MARK BRYAN, BILL MURRAY AND WOODY AUSTIN CAPTURE 2009 HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH MONDAY AFTER THE MASTERS CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
15th Annual Monday After the Masters Celebrity Golf Tournament Records Fourth Consecutive Sell-Out at The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf

The six-person team led by Mark Bryan, Bill Murray and Woody Austin captured the 2009 Hootie & The Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament title with a score of 18-under-par. The team of Kris Blanks, Josh Kelley and George Rogers tied the team of Kris Cox and Mickey Tettleton for second place with scores of 17-under on the day.

For the fourth consecutive year, an estimated 6,000 golf fans packed The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf to see their favorite celebrities, athletes and musicians compete in the 15th annual Monday After The Masters Tournament in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The 2009 Monday After The Masters Tournament featured one of the deepest fields in tournament history with many of the biggest names in the music, television and movies, sports and the professional golf world. Headlining the 15th annual tournament were LPGA Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam; professional wrestling legend Ric Flair; actors Bill Murray and Samuel L. Jackson; former Pittsburgh Steeler running back Jerome Bettis; NASCAR driver Kyle Petty; PGA golfer John Daly; LPGA golfer and Myrtle Beach area native Kristy McPherson.

Representing the music world were Josh Kelley, recording artist and one of the stars of GOLF CHANNEL’s Road Trip: Myrtle Beach; his younger brother Charles Kelley, of the new country group, Lady Antebellum; R&B singer Javier Colon; pop rock performer Edwin McCain; musician Branford Marsalis; Alter Bridge drummer Scott Phillips; country singers Steve Azar and Johnny Lee; Andrew Copeland of Sister Hazel and Dan Tyminski of Union Station. Actors participating in the 2008 Monday After The Masters include Gary Valentine of “King of Queens”; and comedian Jackie Flynn.

Former NFL players Jim McMahon, George Rogers, Sterling Sharpe and Kordell Stewart competed, along with South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier. Former Major League Baseball stars Mickey Tettleton and Chuck Finley participated in the 15th annual celebrity golf tournament

The PGA was well represented by Woody Austin, Eric Axley, Ricky Barnes, Matt Bettencourt, Kris Blanks, Josh Broadaway, Kris Cox, Chris DiMarco, Ken Duke, Lee Elder, Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey, Robert Gamez, Chad Ginn, Billy Kratzert, Spencer Levin, Mark Lye, Jim McGovern, David Mobley, Larry Rinker, Lee Rinker, Nicholas Thompson, Jim Thorpe and Re/Max WLD Champion Carl Wolter.

“All I can say is .. finally,” said Bryan. “This is my first win in the 15-year history of the Monday After The Masters and I am glad that my team won. I’d like to thank our PGA teammate, Woody Austin, for all of his great shots, especially when he jarred one in on hole number nine for the eagle. That is a shot that you only have the pleasure of seeing once in awhile and that really got us got us going. Playing with Bill Murray was one of the best experiences of my life. He is one of the funniest guys in the world.”

The 2009 Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament kicked off Sunday night with a Live Auction and Pairings Party at the House of Blues. Every year, the Live Auction raises money for the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation which supports the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation and the educational needs of children in South Carolina. The total amount raised during the 2009 Monday After The Masters Tournament will be announced later in the year.
